Choose Between Hosted Uploads and External Links in QuickAttach

Use an upload when the accepted file fits the documented limit and the app’s storage model suits your delivery. Use an external link when a suitable provider better fits the asset, while retaining responsibility for permissions and continuity there.

Apply the hard constraints first

QuickAttach support asks merchants to keep uploaded files under 100 MB. Check the actual finished asset or archive and validate the format in your store. Do not assume a specialized extension is accepted because a broad file category appears in marketing copy.

For storage and retention terms, review the current official listing and the billing information shown before approval. Delivery volume, stored bytes, and retention are different constraints. An external link does not turn the app's upload storage into unlimited hosting.

A practical decision tree

  1. Is the finished asset accepted and comfortably within the upload limit? If no, assess an appropriate external host or a justified alternative export.
  2. Does the customer need a simple downloadable snapshot? If yes, a tested upload may be straightforward.
  3. Does the asset already require a specialized hosted viewer or controlled destination? If yes, evaluate that provider's link and permissions.
  4. Who will maintain the file for the promised period? Choose a route with an assigned owner and a separate archive.
  5. Can the intended recipient complete the task? Test the actual path before deciding.

Two fictional deliveries

Demo order 5170-A contains a small final PDF guide. Its accepted upload and straightforward download may fit the customer's needs. Demo order 5170-B contains a large video master. A suitable external destination may preserve the required quality without pretending that QuickAttach's upload limit has changed.

These are planning examples, not measured files or completed tests. The correct choice depends on your actual assets, access requirements, and account terms.

Keep the production master outside either customer-facing path. Neither a successful upload nor a stable-looking URL is a promise of permanent access. The walkthrough shows where each choice enters the order workflow; it does not replace your retention or provider-access plan.
