Send a Private Video Reading Link Through a Shopify Order

Verify the video host’s permissions using a permitted non-owner identity before sending the link. “Private” should describe the actual access policy, not merely a URL that is absent from your storefront.

Choose the access model deliberately

A recipient-restricted video and an anyone-with-the-link video offer different access conditions. Decide which fits the service and customer expectations. Do not broaden access simply because the first test encounters a sign-in prompt.

Google Drive documents restricted sharing and recipient roles. If another host is used, consult that provider’s current instructions rather than assuming Drive’s rules apply. An order-linked URL does not configure the video host.

Keep the actual private URL in an approved operational system, not in public screenshots or a sample spreadsheet.

A separate-identity test

  1. Prepare a harmless demonstration video.
  2. Set the intended access policy.
  3. Open the exact delivery URL in a separate permitted account.
  4. Check sign-in, playback, and any promised download option.
  5. Try an unauthorized identity to understand the observed restriction.
  6. Record the result and repeat after changing the destination or permissions.

This is a proposed test, not a completed product claim. A logged-out window is useful for observing public access but cannot substitute for testing a specifically authorized account.

Keep the recording itself ready for release

Watch the final video and remove unintended notifications, browser tabs, or unrelated client references. Confirm that the recording matches the purchased service. Do not expose the buyer’s personal prompt in the delivery subject.

QuickAttach supports attaching a prepared link to an order item. The host remains responsible for playback and permissions. Tell the buyer if a particular sign-in identity is required, how long access is intended to remain, and how to report an access problem.

Do not describe a link as protected against all sharing or copying. If the host removes the video or the account closes, the order association alone cannot restore it. Maintain the approved original where your service policy requires recovery.
