Define the failure you are trying to detect
The central failure is not merely a broken download. It is a working download that returns the wrong customer’s file. A test must therefore inspect contents as well as whether a link opens. Use synthetic material and inboxes you control; never use private customer documents to probe access boundaries.
QuickAttach describes per-item file association, while its support guidance recommends testing customer download links. The following protocol turns that into a store-specific acceptance check. It is a test plan, not a claim that these cases have already passed.
Prepare the fixture
- Test order A and test order B contain the same catalog product.
- Each order uses a different controlled customer email.
- File A contains the large text “A: amber triangle.”
- File B contains the large text “B: violet circle.”
- A revised A file contains “A revision 2: amber square.”
- The tester records store configuration, date, browser, and enabled customer surfaces.
Use obvious markers inside the documents. Matching filenames alone would not catch a file exported with the wrong contents.
Execute and record each case
| Case | Action | Expected observation |
|---|---|---|
| Initial A | Deliver A and download from A’s message | Amber triangle |
| Initial B | Deliver B and download from B’s message | Violet circle |
| Return visit | Revisit each supported order download path | Each order still provides its intended content |
| Change A | Use the supported revision procedure for A | Observed A behavior matches the documented update procedure |
| Regression B | Open B after changing A | B remains violet circle |
Keep evidence that explains the result
For every case, record the order reference, action, expected marker, observed marker, and pass or fail. Save sanitized screenshots only when useful; exclude working access URLs, tokens, and personal information. If a link redirects through another provider, note that dependency without exposing credentials.
A fictional tester might discover that both emails have the right order numbers but file A contains the violet circle. That points toward a release-selection problem, not necessarily an access-control defect. Investigate the uploaded content before assigning a cause.
What a pass does not establish
Passing these cases supports the tested configuration and paths. It does not certify security, prove every account mode works, or guarantee future changes are harmless. Repeat the affected cases after changing delivery settings, customer surfaces, or revision procedures, and keep unresolved mismatches out of the live workflow.
