Confirm why the file is large
Measure the final export and compare it with the intended deliverable. An accidentally exported source-quality master may be unnecessary for a short phone greeting, while a production client may genuinely require a large master. Do not reduce resolution or quality without checking the purchased scope.
QuickAttach support asks for files under 100 MB. When the correct export is larger, an external host can provide the destination while the order delivery supplies the route to it. The host remains responsible for storage, permissions, and any playback experience.
Prepare the hosted destination
Upload only the finished customer asset or a deliberately assembled package. Avoid sharing the parent production folder. Decide whether the buyer must sign in and whether a download is required. A page that plays a preview may not satisfy a purchase that promises a downloadable master.
Check the provider's official sharing guidance and your account's available controls. Do not assume passwords, expiry options, or restricted-user sharing are included in every plan. The Shopify order link itself does not change those controls.
Fictional large-video handoff
Demo order 5150 contains an edited event montage. Its hypothetical final export is 180 MB, so it would exceed the documented upload guidance. The merchant places it at a chosen external host, grants the intended test recipient access, and sends that specific destination through the order's link delivery. The 180 MB figure is illustrative, not a measured media result.
External publication checklist
- Open the hosted asset and verify the correct order and revision.
- Inspect the surrounding folder or page for unrelated customer content.
- Test with the intended recipient's permissions, not the owner's session.
- Verify playback and downloading separately if both are promised.
- Record the hosted filename, version, owner, and maintenance responsibility.
- Explain any sign-in step and availability period in the delivery message.
Keep a copy of the approved master in your normal archive. If the provider's link changes or permissions are revoked, the order can still contain a link that no longer works; assign someone to handle that exception.
Use the QuickAttach walkthrough to understand where the external link enters the order workflow. This guide supplies a proposed access-check process, not evidence that a particular video host, codec, or recipient device has been tested.
