Replace a Delivered Custom File on a Shopify Order

Prepare and verify the corrected file, associate it with the intended order item, and explain the revision to the customer. Before relying on replacement behavior, test what happens to previously sent links in your store.

Define the correction precisely

Start from the original order and item. Record what must change and why, then create a new revision with a distinguishable filename and visible revision where appropriate. Open the export and check the entire document, not only the corrected sentence.

Keep an appropriate internal reference to the earlier version according to your retention policy. Do not assume the app retains every prior file or that replacing an attachment can remove copies already downloaded by the customer.

A fictional corrected report

Demo order 5190 contains a workspace report whose page heading uses the wrong project label. Production corrects the label and creates 5190-report-v02.pdf. The checker confirms the intended change and verifies that other pages still belong to the same order. The sender prepares a message identifying v02 as the corrected version.

No result is asserted here. Run this procedure with synthetic data and ask QuickAttach support about behavior you cannot explain. External hosts may have their own replacement and version rules, which need a separate check.

Communicate the change

The corrected v02 report for order 5190 is ready. It fixes the project label on the opening page. Please use this revision for future reference. If you saved v01, keep it clearly marked as superseded or replace your working copy as appropriate.

Only state that an old link is disabled or now opens v02 after verifying that behavior. A clear new message is useful even when the URL itself remains unchanged.

Close the record

Record the current revision, change summary, delivery event, and any remaining issue. The order delivery workflow keeps the correction tied to its purchase, while your version record explains why it happened. Do not portray replacement as automatic customer acceptance or guaranteed removal of earlier copies.
