Decide whether early delivery helps the buyer
Partial delivery is useful when the ready file has value on its own. It may be less useful when the customer cannot use it until a companion document arrives. Make that decision from the purchased outcome, not just from the fact that an upload is available.
QuickAttach documents partial and full delivery with optional Shopify fulfillment. Those capabilities allow a staged workflow, but the operator still needs to choose the correct scope. Do not equate sending one file with completing every obligation in the order.
Model the states before pressing send
| Fictional order 4202 | Production state | Included in this send? | Customer wording |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seating diagram | Reviewed | Yes | Ready to download |
| Table-label sheet | Being prepared | No | Still being prepared |
The diagram can help the buyer plan while labels are finished. If the labels depend on a final change to the diagram, the merchant should instead decide whether early release would create confusion. Partial delivery is a choice, not a requirement.
Release the ready portion
- Confirm the order still contains both items and identify their current variants and quantities.
- Open the diagram’s reviewed file and attach it to its corresponding item.
- Select the ready item for delivery; inspect the final selection for accidental inclusion of unfinished work.
- Read the message from the buyer’s perspective. It should identify the diagram and say that labels remain pending.
- Review whether the chosen action marks any item fulfilled. Keep unfinished work represented accurately in Shopify and in your production queue.
- Inspect delivery activity afterward and leave a next action for the remaining item.
Test the second delivery too
A staged process is incomplete until you know what happens when the remaining file is ready. With a synthetic order, deliver the first item, then finish and deliver the second. Check which links appear in each message and what the customer sees when returning to the order. Record actual behavior; this article does not report a completed test.
Use the documented order-to-download flow as the starting point, and ask support if the selection or fulfillment behavior is unclear. The final customer message should match the observed result rather than relying on a generic “everything is ready” sentence.
Assign a person and target date to the pending item. Otherwise the successful first send can hide unfinished production work.
